ADVENT ENGINEERING VICE PRESIDENT RECEIVES PENN STATE OUTSTANDING ENGINEERING ALUMNI AWARD

University Park, PA - Douglas Wood, vice president of Advent Engineering Services, Inc., has been named an Outstanding Engineering Alumnus (OEA) by the Penn State College of Engineering.

Penn State OEA Awards recognize graduates who have reached exceptional levels of professional achievement and who provide an ideal for the thousands of engineering students who will follow.

Prior to co-founding Advent Engineering Services, Inc., in 1990, Wood held positions with Westinghouse, Bechtel Power, and TENERA.

As vice president of Advent Engineering Services, Inc., he manages and participates in multi-million dollar projects, advises on resolution of complex technical and regulatory issues, and serves as vice president of quality assurance.

Wood is the recipient of the 1987 Bechtel Corporate Special Performance Award and the 1999 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Michigan Section Nuclear Professional of the Year Award.

He holds memberships in many professional societies, including the ANS, the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers, the Association of Energy Engineers, and the American Society of Quality Control.

Wood received his award April 18th at a special ceremony at the Nittany Lion Inn.

He earned a B.S. in nuclear engineering from Penn State and an M.S. in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan.

He and his wife, Kay Holsinger, reside in Ann Arbor.
