Professional Experience
Senior Engineer, 2009 to Present
Tetra Tech Advent, Ann Arbor, MI
Performed Owner Acceptance Reviews (OAR) of vendor documents, architectural drawings and specifications for door procurement in support of building turnover. This latter task required validation reviews of fire, security, quality, and severe weather withstand requirements and her efforts resulted in significant cost savings and value to the client (from correcting errors and resolving inconsistencies). Originated system balancing calculation for the Gaseous Effluent Ventilation System (GEVS) using PIPEFLO software. The GEVS is a highly complex system with often conflicting design requirements. Assisted with the disposition of a Non-Conformance Report associated with re-bar vendor drawings.
Provided architectural and civil inputs to the Prairie Island thermal-hydraulic calculations, as well as analyses of HVAC systems and compartment heat load calculations. Assisted with a similarity analysis for Hopekke batteries for the purpose of qualifying them for use in nuclear facilities.
Engineer Level II, 2007 to 2008
Tetra Tech Advent, Ann Arbor, MI
Completed Advent 3 day training class on Environmental Qualification (EQ). Reviewed and updated EQ files. Completed an independent review of a Steam Exclusion boundary damper replacement study with cost savings results for the Plant Owner. Originated Engineering Change Requests (ECR) to correct architectural drawings and specifications. Performed OAR of drawings for penetrations, fire detection, criticality alarm, lighting, and public address systems and doors in support of design finalization and construction of a new COL-approved nuclear facility.
Physics and Physical Science Teacher, 2002 to 2005
Mattawan Consolidated Schools, Mattawan, MI
Substitute and Intern Teacher, 2000 to 2001
Portage Central High School, Mattawan Consolidated Schools, Mattawan, MI
Mechanical Engineer, 1981 to 1985
Bechtel Power Corporation - Ann Arbor, MI
Lead mechanical engineer for design modifications on operating nuclear power plants including HVAC, fire protection and EQ valve replacement. Originated and checked design calculations for heat loss/heat gain, ductwork static pressure loss, and sound pressure level. Worked on specification and procurement of HVAC equipment. Closed out design change packages, updating all affected drawings and documents associated with the modification. Prepared the procedures and performed walkdowns at the plant site. Prepared correspondence to clients, venders, and field construction.
