The new IPCS incorporated functions of nine, previously independent, digital processor systems and interfaced with seven additional systems. The modification also included control room and annunciator system upgrades (DE0023, DE0030, DE0037, DE0063).

    • Prepared licensing documents to support design changes to the stand-by liquid control system to reflect new pH control function for alternate source term (DE0059).

  • System Engineering and Operability
    • Performed calculations and generated documentation in support of Fermi 2 success criteria for HPCI, RCIC, EDGs, and RHR / RHRSW in the form of draft PRA sections of the Fermi 2 MSPI basis document (DE0071).
    • Provided technical support during plant shutdown, in the form of analysis of impact on EQ equipment, caused by drywell cooler degraded performance. Subsequently participated on the root cause team (DE0076).
    • Provided engineering assistance for Moisture Separator Reheater (MHR) Replacement Project Post-Modification Acceptance Operational Test (DE0093).
    • Performed analysis of functionality of instrument sensing lines for exposure to design basis fires (DE0137).
    • Evaluated the effects of a Turbine Building HELB on the Operability of EQ Equipment in the Auxiliary Feedwater Pump Rooms in response to IN 2000-20 (FEDB05).
    • Evaluated new conditions and past operability for a Midwest PWR's updated turbine building HELB conditions (FEDB10).

    • Analyzed the safety impact of a rupture of a reactor coolant pump's cooling coil on the operability of the component cooling water system for a PWR plant (SC0101).

    • Prepared 10 CFR 50.59 documentation and licensing change requests for major security modifications being performed (DE0048).
    • To validate readiness for an NRC security inspection, developed a Design Basis Threat Compliance Matrix (DE0055).
    • Established effectiveness review criteria for security impacts and prepared design input requirements in 50.59 documents for modifications to the secondary alarm station (SAS) security building (DE0080).
    • Chaired and participated on the working group to update IEEE Std. 692 on nuclear station security requirements to be consistent with 10 CFR 73 (AES692).
  • Integrated Nuclear Door Design

    • Performed independent evaluation of future usefulness and long term cost-effectiveness of Callaway's upper level design basis document (ULDBD) Project as part of Callaway's internal self assessment program (AUE001).
    • Prepared a grid stability topical DBD (CP0001).
    • Prepared Pressurizer Pressure Control System DBD for a PWR plant (CP0006)
    • Prepared and validated three design basis documents on post-accident sampling systems (PASS), main steam isolation valve leakage control system (MSIV-LCS), and remote shutdown system for a BWR plant (DE0001).
    • Performed validations of the Core Spray System and Reactor Manual Control System DBDs for a BWR plant (DE0002).
